On Tuesday, following breakfast, you will depart the hotel and explore the Solway Coast across the border – glimpsing Gretna Green from the other side of the water, whilst learning about the local history of the Border Reivers and World War II; as well as the crossing from England to Scotland. There’s so much to see and do including Wildlife. Plus, enjoy some free time in the popular coastal town of Silloth after your lunch. SPECIAL WILDLIFE TOUR
The Solway estuary, a place which has international importance as a rich habitat for migrating birds, particularly in the winter months when the Barnacle Geese and Whooper swans have returned from their breeding grounds in the Arctic flows between the Scottish county of Dumfries and Galloway and the English county of Cumbria. Explore the Solway coastline on a winter wild goose chase which visits various bird-watching sites on and close to the estuary. Warm clothes, walking boots and binoculars recommended. Lunch included as well as a Real Ale stop!
